about

This song was born in or around April of 2013 and completed a little over a year later when it wouldn't leave me alone. It was recorded live at Forge Recording in Oreland, PA on August 8th, 2017.

lyrics

Don't we end up in the same place every time this happens -
Bruised and bloody beside a brick wall?

And it hurts like hell, but we go ahead and repeat these actions
Like we didn't feel anyhthing at all

Each of us waiting there for the other to define this moment
Kids in sweet shops, bulls in a china store

The thinnest of lines now perforated, and we share the onus
Like we each knew the other wanted more

And when we all fall down, we believe wholeheartedly that there is pleasure
In the pain we've found; marveling at how two beating hearts
Can make the sweetest sound from so high up that we'd only crash-land
And end up on the ground all over again

Got a corner in my basement full of old inventions
Failed attempts at finding a way to fly

Oh the lengths we'd go for a little bit of good old redemption
When the tease could bloom into paradise

I know we search for moments of promise in the calculations
Of the paths that lead to catastrophe

They could escalate into heaven, or a shared salvation
But what the hell could we ever really be?

'Cause when we all fall down, we believe wholeheartedly that there is pleasure
In the pain we've found; marveling at how two beating hearts
Can make the sweetest sound from so high up that we'd only crash-land
And end up on the ground all over again

One more prototype into the flames
One more lonely life lost in the game
One more avalanche lands in the blind
One more mountain top dares us to climb

All those wrongs that were done to me can't quiet the feeling --
You know it all too well -- It's a hell of a heaven
And we keep feeding a fantasy

In which we all fall down and believe wholeheartedly that there is pleasure
In the pain we've found; marveling at how two beating hearts
Can make the sweetest sound from so high up that we'd only crash-land
And end up on the ground all over again

'Cause I know when we all fall down
I'm telling you we believe in the pain we've found, oh yes
We marvel at how a couple beating hearts could
Make the sweetest sound -- you know it all too well
We keep right on reaching; we know not what we do every time this happens

Every time this happens
